Valve Guide: Service and Repair

Valve guides are an integral part of the cylinder head. If stem to guide clearance is excessive, the guide should be reamed to the next oversize and the appropriate oversize valve installed. Valves are available in standard size and oversizes of .003 in. (.075 mm), .006 in. (.150 mm), and .012 in. (.300 mm).
