MACPHERSON Strut & Coil Spring: Disassembly

  1. With Strut Compressor (J-26584 ) clamped in vise, put strut in Compressor Bottom Adapter (J-26584-89 ), making sure locating pins engage. Rotate strut to align upper mount assembly lip with compressor support notch.
  2. Insert Compressor Top Adapter (J-26584-430 ) on top spring seal. Position top adapter long stud about 180° from strut lower flange. See Figure . Compress spring and place 2nd top adapter over spring seat. Reverse compressor screw to relieve spring tension. Remove top adapters, bottom adapter and strut.
