Hub & Bearings: Removal

  1. On vehicles with aluminum wheels, set parking brake, raise vehicle and remove wheel. On vehicles with steel wheels, remove hub cap, loosen hub nut, raise vehicle and remove wheel.
  2. On all vehicles, install Drive Axle Boot Protector (J-33162 ). Remove hub nut and discard. Remove brake caliper and rotor. Remove hub attaching bolts, marking them for installation in their original locations. Make sure hub is loose in knuckle and use Hub Remover (J-28733 ) to remove hub assembly.
NOTE: Do not move car unless hub nut is tightened.
