Temperature Gauge

  1. Unplug temperature gauge sender wire in engine compartment. Connect Tester (J-24538-A) between sender wire and ground. Turn ignition to "ON". If gauge responds to tester accurately, replace sender.
  2. If gauge indicates beyond "HOT" end of scale, check for bad connections at gauge or bad ground. If connections are okay, replace gauge.
  3. If gauge does not respond or response is inaccurate, unplug temperature gauge lead at engine harness connector. Connect tester to lead that goes to gauge.
  4. If gauge responds to tester accurately in step 3), check wiring between harness connector and sender. If gauge does respond in step 3), check for bad connections at instrument panel or gauge terminals. If connections okay, replace gauge.
