Valve Springs

NOTE: For valve spring removal and installation procedures refer to removal and installation of valve stem oil seals.
  1. Test valve spring pressure with Valve Spring Tester (J-8056). Springs must be within 10 lbs. (4.5 kg) of specified load (without dampers). Check valve spring squareness.
  2. Valve spring out-of-square limit is .0625" (1.587 mm). Install new valve stem oil seals. If necessary, install new valve springs and retainers. Compress spring and install valve spring retainer locks.
  3. Apply Lubriplate to all rocker arm contact surfaces. Dip rocker arms in engine oil before installing. Check valve spring for proper installed height.
