Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

  1. With engine removed from vehicle, remove valve cover, rocker arm assembly, push rods and lifters. Remove engine front cover. Mark position of rotor and remove distributor.
    NOTE: Use extreme care when removing camshaft, as all journals are same size and damage to bearings could result.
  2. Remove fuel pump and push rod. Remove timing chain and camshaft sprocket. Remove thrust plate retaining bolts and remove thrust plate. Remove camshaft.
