Camshaft Engine Front Cover: Installation

  1. Clean mating surfaces on block and front cover. Apply bead of RTV sealer to cover, using care to keep sealer out of cover bolt holes. At time of installation, flanges must be free of oil and sealer must be wet to touch. Install Front Cover Centerer (J-35468) in front cover seal. Coat front cover seal contact area with oil.
  2. Position front cover on block, install retaining bolts and tighten. Remove centering tool. Apply RTV sealer to keyway in hub. Place hub in position over key on crankshaft.
  3. Install Hub Installer (J-29113) into crankshaft with at least .24" (6 mm) of thread engaged. Pull hub into position and remove installer. Install accessory drive pulley and tighten bolts to specification. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation.
