Camshaft Bearings: Removal
- With camshaft and crankshaft removed, remove camshaft rear cover. Fasten connecting rods to side of engine to keep out of work area. Using Camshaft Bearing Remover (J-6098), fasten nut and thrust washer to end of threads.
- Insert Camshaft Bearing Remover (J-6098) pilot in camshaft front bearing and install puller screw through pilot. Install remover/installer (J-6098) with shoulder toward bearing with sufficient amount of threads engaged.
- Using an additional wrench to hold puller screw stationary, turn nut until bearing is pulled from block. Remove bearing from Remover/Installer (J-6098). Remove remaining bearings (except front and rear) in same manner.
- Insert pilot in camshaft rear bearing to remove rear intermediate bearing. Assemble Remover/Installer (J-6098) on driver handle and remove front and rear bearings by driving toward center of cylinder block.
