Hydraulic Valve Lifter Adjustment
- Rotate engine until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC of compression stroke. Verify that mark on crankshaft pulley lines up with "O" mark on timing plate. The following valves may be adjusted: No. 1 and 2 intake; No. 1 and 3 exhaust.
- To adjust, back off adjusting nut until clearance is felt at push rod. Tighten adjusting nut until all clearance is removed. Turn adjusting nut an additional 1 1/2 turns to center lifter plunger in bore.
- Rotate crankshaft 360° and realign timing marks. Adjust No. 3 and 4 intake valves and No. 2 and 4 exhaust valves.
