Piston & Rod Assembly: Removal
- Remove cylinder head and oil pan. On cylinder requiring service, turn crankshaft until piston is at bottom of stroke. Place cloth over top of piston. Using a ridge reamer, remove ridge or deposits on upper end of cylinder bore.
- Remove connecting rod caps and bearings. If bearings are to be reused, mark so that they can be reinstalled in original position.
- To protect crankshaft, place sleeve or hose over rod bolts. Remove piston and rod from top of cylinder. Replace cap onto rod and mark rod for reinstallation in original location.
