BUICK Special & Skylark 6 CYL. & V8: 1970-72

Disconnect battery and remove fan shroud to radiator tee bar screws. Remove air cleaner and disconnect throttle linkage. Raise vehicle and drain crankcase. On manual transmission models, loosen clutch equalizer bracket to frame bolts and disconnect exhaust crossover pipe at engine. On automatic transmission models, remove lower flywheel housing, shift linkage attaching bolt and swing linkage out of way and disconnect exhaust crossover from engine. On all models, disconnect idler arm at frame and push steering linkage forward. Remove front engine mount bolts and raise engine,

Remove oil pan bolts and if necessary, rotate crankshaft for clearance and remove oil pan.
