Front Brake Caliper & Pads: Installation

  1. Inboard pads are common. Outboard pads are marked with an "L" or "R", indicating installation side on vehicle. Generously lubricate both adapter ways with multipurpose grease.
  2. Install inboard pad assembly into caliper (ensure retainer enters into bore of piston). Remove protective paper from noise suppression gasket. Insert appropriately marked outboard pad into caliper with hold-down spring positioned correctly.
  3. Carefully lower caliper over disc and guide hold-down spring under machined abutment on steering knuckle. Attach Install attaching bolts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install wheels. Tighten wheel nuts in a crisscross sequence to half torque, then repeat tightening sequence to full torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Lower vehicle and operate brake pedal to ensure a firm feel. Road test vehicle and make several stops to wear off any foreign material on brakes and to seat brake pad linings.
