Removal (Sebring Convertible)

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
  2. Raise parking brake lever as high as possible. Loosen set screw on shifter knob and remove knob. Remove plastic plunger rod from shifter lever. Carefully pry up and remove shift range indicator bezel. Remove floor console retaining screws.
  3. Disconnect accessory wiring harness connector from console. Remove console. Raise parking brake lever as high as necessary for required clearance, to remove center console. Raise rear of center console. Disconnect center console wiring harness 10-pin connector. Remove center console.
  4. Lower parking brake lever. Pull up parking brake output cable by hand. Pull cable until a 15/64" drill bit can be inserted into automatic adjuster mechanism. See Figure . This will lock parking brake mechanism and remove tension from parking brake cables.
  5. Remove rear parking brake cables from parking brake cable equalizer. Disconnect brake warning light connector at parking brake lever. Remove parking brake lever assembly. Remove ACM. Disconnect ACM connectors.
