Cleaning & Inspection

After engine bell housing bearing removal, inspect bearing for wear. The bearing is designed for life of vehicle and requires no periodic maintenance. The following procedure can be used to inspect condition of bearing: With bearing removed, rotate inner race of bearing in palm of your hand while pushing down slightly. Any roughness or resistance to rotation may indicate dirt intrusion or a failed bearing. If bearing exhibits any of these symptoms, bearing will require replacement. The bearing is not serviceable.
