Inspection Procedure
- Position a floor jack under outer end of rear lower control arm. Carefully raise vehicle so rear wheel tire assembly is just lightly contracting floor (vehicle weight relieved from tire).
- Have a helper grasp tire at bottom and apply an inward and outward force against bottom of tire. While inward and outward force is being applied against bottom section of tire, look for any movement between lower ball joint stub and lower control arm/ball joint housing.
- If any lateral movement is evident between lower ball joint stub and lower control arm/ball joint housing, ball joint will need to be replaced.
