Wear Inspection Procedure
CAUTION:
When raising vehicle by lower control arm using a floor jack, a protective pad must be used on saddle of jack. This is required so control arm does not get damaged in any way by floor jack.
- Position a floor jack under outer end of front lower control arm. Carefully raise vehicle so front tire is just lightly contacting floor (vehicle weight relieved from tire).
- Have a helper grasp tire at bottom and apply an inward and outward force against bottom of tire. While inward and outward force is being applied against tire, look for any movement between lower ball joint and steering knuckle.
- If any lateral movement is evident at lower ball joint, lower control arm will need to be replaced. Repeat procedure on opposite side of vehicle to inspect remaining lower ball joint.
