Evaporator Housing Drain Tube

Condensation that accumulates in evaporator housing is drained through a tube in bulkhead and on to ground. This tube must be kept open to prevent condensate water from collecting in bottom of housing. The tapered end of drain tube is designed to keep contaminants from entering heater A/C unit housing. If tube is plugged or blocked, condensate cannot drain, causing water to back up and spill into passenger compartment. It is normal to see condensate drainage below vehicle. If tube is damaged, it should be replaced.
