Rear Oil Seal - Removal & Installation
- Insert a 3/16 flat bladed screwdriver between dust lip and metal case of crankshaft Angle screwdriver through dust lip against metal case of seal . See Figure. Pry out seal.CAUTION: Do not permit screwdriver blade to contact crankshaft seal surface. Contact screwdriver blade against crankshaft edge (chamfer) is permitted.
- To install, place Special Tool 6926-1 Guide on crankshaft. See Figure. Lightly coat seal O.D. with Mopar Stud and Bearing Mount. Position seal over Guide tool. Assure that lip of seal is facing towards crankshaft during installation. The Guide tool remains on crankshaft during seal installation.CAUTION: If burr or scratch is present on crankshaft edge (chamfer), cleanup with 400 grit sand paper to prevent seal damage during installation of new seal.
- Using Special Tool 6926-2 Installer, and C-4171 Handle. See Figure. drive seal into retainer housing until seal is flush with housing surface.
