Cylinder Head: Removal
- Drain cooling system, remove fan module, and 11 radiator. Remove refrigerant from air conditioning system using a refrigerant recovery machine. Remove air conditioning condenser. Remove accessory drive belts. Remove hood side panels.
- Remove right headlamp module for easier access to compressor bolts. Remove air conditioning compressor mounting bolts and set compressor aside. Remove compressor bracket from engine. Remove crankshaft damper. Remove timing belt covers.
- Remove camshaft sprockets. Remove exhaust manifold upper heat shields and manifold attaching bolts. Intake and Exhaust Manifolds for procedure. Remove intake manifold assembly. Remove rear timing belt cover to cylinder head fasteners. See Fig 1. Remove rear covers. The right side timing belt cover has O-rings located behind it for water pump passages. See Fig 2. Remove cylinder head bolts and remove cylinder head.
