Horn Relay

  1. Remove horn relay. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between relay connector terminals No. 85 and 86 for 70-80 ohms resistance, see Figure . If resistance not okay, replace relay. If resistance is okay, go to next step.
  2. Test for continuity between ground and horn relay terminal No. 85. When horn switch is not depressed, no continuity should be present. Continuity to ground should exist when horn switch is depressed. If continuity is not correct repair horn switch or wiring as necessary.
  3. Using voltmeter, check battery voltage at horn relay terminals No. 30 and 86 to body ground. If NO voltage is present, check fuse No. 5 of Power Distribution Center. If voltage reading is incorrect, repair circuit as necessary.
  4. Insert a jumper wire between Power Distribution Center terminals No. 30 and 87. If horn sounds, replace relay. If horn does not sound, install horn relay, check fuse and test HORN  .
