New Brake Shoe Burnishing Procedure

When new brake lining is installed on vehicle, this procedure must be used to correctly burnish (seat) brake lining to braking disc. Accelerate vehicle to a steady speed of 40 mph. Then using light brake pedal pressure slow vehicle from 40 mph to 0 mph in approximately 6 seconds. Then accelerate back to 40 mph for approximately 1 minute to allow brakes to cool down. Repeat this procedure 15 to 20 times to correctly seat brake lining material.
