Rear Caliper: Install

NOTE: Step 1) below is only required when installing a caliper after new brake shoes have been installed.
  1. Completely retract caliper piston back into bore of caliper. Lubricate both abutments on caliper adapter with a liberal amount of Mopar Brake Grease, or an equivalent.
    CAUTION: Use care when installing caliper on caliper adapter so seals on caliper guide pin bushings are not damaged.
  2. Install disc brake caliper on caliper adapter, reversing removal procedure. See Figure .
    CAUTION: When installing caliper mounting bolts into caliper adapter be careful not to cross thread caliper guide pin bolts.
  3. Install caliper mounting bolts. See Figure . Tighten guide pin bolts to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.). Install banjo bolt securing brake hose to brake caliper. Ensure one brass washer is positioned on each side of brake hose fitting where banjo bolt goes through. Torque banjo bolt to 48 N.m (35 ft. lbs.).
  4. Install wheel and tire. Tighten wheel mounting stud nuts in proper sequence until all nuts are torqued to half specified torque. Then repeat tightening sequence to full specified torque of 135 N.m (100 ft. lbs.). Install center cap on wheel. Remove jackstands or lower hoist. Remove brake pedal holding tool from brake pedal. Pump brake pedal to seat pads. Bleed any air from brake caliper.
