- Thoroughly clean rotor mounting surface on front face of hub flange. If a new rotor is being installed, thoroughly clean rotor to remove protective coating from all surfaces. Install rotor on hub. Lubricate both abutments on caliper adapter with a liberal amount of Mopar Brake Grease, or an equivalent.
CAUTION:
Use care when installing caliper on caliper adapter so seals on caliper guide pin bushings do not get damaged.
- Carefully install brake caliper and brake shoes on caliper adapter by first hooking end of caliper under edge of caliper adapter as shown in illustration. See Figure
. Then rotate caliper into position on caliper adapter.
CAUTION:
When installing caliper guide pin bolts into caliper adapter be careful not to cross thread caliper guide pin bolts.
- Install caliper mounting bolts. See Figure
. Tighten mounting bolts to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.). Install wheels and tires. Tighten wheel mounting stud nuts in proper sequence until all nuts are torqued to half specified torque. Then repeat tightening sequence to full specified torque of 135 N.m (100 ft. lbs.). Install center cap on wheel. Remove jackstands or lower hoist. Road test vehicle and make several stops to wear off any foreign material on rotor and brake shoes.
CAUTION:
Before moving vehicle, pump brake pedal several times to insure vehicle has a firm brake pedal.
