Park Brake Lever: Removal
- Remove shift knob from shifter. See Figure . Shift knob is attached to shifter using an alien head set screw. Access to set screw is from front side of shift knob. Remove shift bezel from center console. Shift bezel is removed by carefully pulling upward along edge until retaining clips unlatch from center console. See Figure .
- Disconnect shift bezel wiring harness from vehicle wiring harness attaching center console to console bracket. Remove screw. See Figure . Remove 4 screws mounting storage tray and lid to center console. See Figure . Remove lid and storage tray from center console. Raise park brake hand lever to applied position. This is required for clearance to remove center console. Remove center console from vehicle. Lower park brake lever handle.
- Grasp park brake lever output cable by hand and pull upward. See Figure . Continue pulling on cable until a 3/16" drill bit can be inserted into handle and sector gear of park brake mechanism. This will lock park brake mechanism and take tension off park brake cables.
- Remove both rear park brake cables from park brake cable equalizer. See Figure . Remove wiring harness electrical connector from brake warning light ground switch on park brake lever. See Figure . Remove 2 nuts attaching park brake lever. See Figure . Remove park brake lever mechanism from vehicle.
