Front Brake Caliper Inspection

Check for leakage at caliper bore to piston seal (brake fluid in and around dust boot area and lining) and for any ruptures in piston dust boots. If a dust boot is damaged, or a fluid leak is detected install new piston seal and dust boot on caliper piston. When installing piston seal and dust boot, a caliper piston that is found to be scored piston should be replaced. DO NOT sand caliper pistons to remove scoring.

Inspect dust boots on caliper guide pin bushings for signs of damage or deterioration. If a dust boot is damaged or deteriorated, dust boot and guide pin bolt bushing are a replaceable component of rear caliper.
