Front Disc Brake Rotor: Installation
- Thoroughly clean rotor mounting surface on front face of hub flange. If a new rotor is being installed, thoroughly clean rotor to remove protective coating from all surfaces. Install rotor on hub. Lubricate both abutments on caliper adapter with a liberal amount of Mopar Brake Grease, or an equivalent.CAUTION: Use care when installing caliper on caliper adapter, to ensure seals on caliper guide pin bushings do not get damaged.
- Carefully position caliper and brake shoes on caliper adapter by hooking lower or upper end of caliper under machined abutment on caliper adapter. See Figure
. Then rotate caliper into position at opposite end of caliper adapter.CAUTION: Extreme caution should be taken not to cross thread caliper guide pin bolts.
- Install caliper mounting bolts and tighten to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.). See Figure . Install wheel and tire. Using a torque wrench, tighten wheel mounting stud nuts in proper sequence until all nuts are torqued to half specified torque. Then repeat tightening sequence to full specified torque of 135 N.m (100 ft. lbs.). Install center cap on wheel. Remove jackstands or lower hoist. Before moving vehicle, pump brake pedal several times to insure vehicle has a firm brake pedal.
