Front Brake Caliper: Installation
- Lubricate both abutments on caliper adapter with a liberal amount of Mopar Brake Grease, or an equivalent.CAUTION: Use care when installing caliper on caliper adapter, to ensure seals on caliper guide pin bushings do not get damaged.
- Carefully position caliper and brake shoes on caliper adapter by hooking lower or upper end of caliper under machined abutment on caliper adapter. See Fig 2
. Then rotate caliper into position at opposite end of caliper adapter.CAUTION: Extreme caution should be taken not to cross-thread caliper guide pin bolts.
- Install caliper guide pin bolts and tighten to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.). See Fig 1 . Install banjo bolt securing brake hose to brake caliper. Make sure one brass washer is positioned on each side of brake hose fitting where banjo bolt goes through. Torque banjo bolt to 48 N.m (35 ft. lbs.) Install wheel and tire.
- Using a torque wrench, tighten wheel mounting stud nuts in proper sequence until all nuts are torqued to half specified torque. Then repeat tightening sequence to full specified torque of 135 N.m (100 ft. lbs.). Install center cap on wheel. Remove jackstands or lower hoist. Remove brake pedal holding tool from brake pedal. Pump brake pedal to seat pads. Bleed any air from brake caliper.
