Motor Runs Slowly In All Speeds

  1. Disconnect wiper motor wire harness connector. Remove wiper arms and blades. Connect an ammeter between terminal No. 5 of motor wire harness connector and battery positive post. See Figure . If motor runs and average ammeter reading is more than 6 amps, replace motor. If motor runs and average ammeter reading is less than 6 amps go to next step.
  2. Check wiper motor wiring harness for short between high and low speed circuits using the following procedure:
    • Set wiper switch to LOW position.
    • Connect a voltmeter ground lead to wiper motor ground.
    • Connect positive lead to terminal 6 of wire harness connector.
    • If voltage is present, there is a short in wiring or Multi-Function switch.
    • If no voltage is present set Multi-Function switch to HIGH position.
    • Move positive lead to terminal 5 of wire harness connector.
    • If voltage is present, there is a short in wiring or Multi-Function switch.
    • If no voltage is present, check ground for a good connection. If ground is okay, replace wiper motor.
