Engine Temperature High & Critical Chime

The engine temperature high and critical chime will warn driver that vehicle's engine is over heating. While monitoring coolant temperature, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will send on CCD bus as engine temperature every 1.376 seconds to Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM calculates engine temperature and determines if a warning should occur. This feature is functional only with Ignition Switch in Run/Start position. When engine temperature reaches HIGH temperature of 121°C (250°F) BCM will chime one tone and engine temperature lamp comes ON. The BCM turns OFF lamp when engine temperature reaches 117°C (242°F). The BCM will chime a second warning when engine temperature reaches CRITICAL temperature of 125°C (257°F).
