Turn Signals & Hazard Warning Systems

  1. Turn ignition switch ON position. Actuate turn signal lever or hazard warning button. Observe turn indicator lamp(s) in instrument cluster. If flash rate is very high, check for a turn signal lamp that is not lit. Test operation of system again. If turn indicator(s) fail to light, remove and inspect turn signal fuse in fuse block, and/or turn signal and hazard warning fuses in Power Distribution Center (PDC). Replace faulty fuse(s), if required, and go to Step 2.
  2. Remove combination flasher from connector tape to steering column wire harness and replace it with a known good flasher. Test operation of turn signal and hazard warning systems. If OK, discard faulty combination flasher. If not OK, remove test flasher. With ignition switch in ON position, check for battery voltage at fused B (+) circuit cavity for combination flasher. Locate combination flasher connector taped to steering column wire harness. If OK, go to Step 3. If not OK, repair open circuit to PDC as required.
  3. With ignition switch in OFF position, check for continuity between ground circuit cavity of combination flasher connector and a good ground. There should be continuity. If not OK, repair circuit to ground as required. If OK, check for continuity between combination flasher output circuit cavities of connector and multi-function switch connector. There should be continuity. If OK, test multi-function switch as described in this group. If not OK, repair open circuit as required.
