Rocker Arm & Valve Lash Adjuster: Installation

Install rocker arm assembly. See Figure. Tighten rocker arm assembly retaining bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Adjust valve clearance. See VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.



  1. Lubricate camshaft lobes and camshaft bearing journals. Install camshaft into cylinder head.
  2. Ensure the rocker arms are installed in their original location. Tighten camshaft bearing cap bolts to specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Coat lip of camshaft oil seal with oil. Install seal into cylinder head using Seal Installer (MD998713-01). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
