Removal & Installation: Camshafts: Installation

Install camshaft. Coat camshaft seal contact surface with engine oil. Using Seal Installer (MD998306), install oil seal into cylinder head. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Adjust valve clearance. See VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS.



  1. Lubricate camshaft lobes and camshaft bearing journals. Install camshaft into cylinder head.
  2. Ensure the rocker arms are installed in their original location. Tighten camshaft bearing cap bolts to specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Coat lip of camshaft oil seal with oil. Install seal into cylinder head using Seal Installer (MD998713-01). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
