Hub Rotary Torque Adjustment

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Remove caliper assembly and brake disc. See Figure. Remove end cap from hub. Turn hub 2 or 3 revolutions to seat bearing. Attach inch-pound torque wrench to hub nut and rotate hub.
  2. Torque value should not exceed 16 INCH lbs. (1.8 N.m). If torque value exceeds 16 INCH lbs., loosen hub nut and tighten to 144-188 ft. lbs. (195-255 N.m). If tightening hub nut to specification does not reduce rotary torque value to specification, replace hub assembly. See WHEEL BEARING (HUB) ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
