Except AG & AJ Bodies

  1. Using DRB-II, check distance sensor (speed sensor) for fault code and proper speed indication. See TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
  2. To check wiring circuit, remove speedometer. See GAUGES, SPEEDOMETER OR TACHOMETER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, check battery voltage across cluster's speedometer (B+) pin and ground pin. See Figure , Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
  3. Using ohmmeter, check for wire continuity between cluster's distance sensor input pin and harness connector terminal of distance sensor (mounted to transaxle). If battery voltage and continuity exist, replace speedometer. If voltage and/or continuity do not exist, repair wiring as necessary.
