AG & AJ Bodies

  1. Using DRB-II, check distance sensor (speed sensor) for fault code and proper speed indication. See TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
  2. To check wiring circuit, remove instrument cluster from panel just enough to access speedometer connector on rear of cluster. Leave cluster harness connectors connected. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER R & I  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, check for battery voltage across cluster's speedometer ignition center pin and ground pin. See Fig 1 .
  4. Using ohmmeter, check for wire continuity between cluster's distance sensor input pin and connector terminal of distance sensor (mounted to transaxle).
  5. Check for continuity of speedometer ground. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage and continuity exist, replace speedometer. If voltage and/or continuity do not exist, repair wiring as necessary.
