Cylinder Head: Installation
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Install new head gasket with identification mark at the front (timing belt) and top side of cylinder block. See Fig 1. DO NOT
apply sealant to gasket.

- Tighten head bolts to specification in proper sequence. See Figure. For torque specifications see TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article. Apply sealant to inside of semi-circular packing and cylinder head before installing. Lubricate injector and fuel line "O" rings with engine oil before installing.
- Use new exhaust pipe nuts. On turbo models, use all new gaskets and seals on oil lines for turbo. Apply oil to flared portion of water inlet pipe for turbo before installing on cylinder block. Pour clean oil in the turbo before installing oil supply line.
- On all models, apply sealant at valve cover gasket-to-camshaft bearing cap contact areas before installing. Apply sealant to inside of semi-circular packing and cylinder head before installing. Fill cooling system and adjust control cables.
