Fitting Pistons

  1. To determine if piston-to-cylinder clearance is within specification, measure piston skirt diameter .0787" (1.998 mm) from bottom of piston skirt, at 90-degree angle to piston pin. Ensure piston diameter is within specification. See PISTONS, PINS & RINGS table in ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS  at end of article.
  2. Measure cylinder bore at the following places: .47" (11.9 mm) below top surface of cylinder bore, middle of bore and .47" (11.9 mm) from bottom of cylinder bore.
