Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test
- Remove fuel gauge sending unit from fuel tank. Move float to highest point and measure height between point "F" and sending unit cover flange. See Fig 1
. Move float to lowest point and measure height between point "E" and sending unit cover flange. Replace sending unit if readings are not correct. See FLOAT HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS

Measure Point Height FWD "F" 1.69-1.89" (43.1-48.1 mm) "E" 6.9-7.06" (175.5-179.5 mm) AWD "F" .84-.96" (21.3-24.3 mm) "E" 7.84-7.96" (199.2-202.2 mm) - Use ohmmeter to check resistance of fuel gauge sending unit. Measure resistance between fuel gauge sending unit terminal and ground with float at points "F" and "E". See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . See FUEL SENDING UNIT RESISTANCE . Ensure resistance changes smoothly when float arm is moved slowly between points "F" and "E". Replace sending unit if readings are not correct.
