Intermediate Shaft: Inspection
- Inspect bearing journals and bushings for damage. Measure bearing journal diameters and intermediate shaft bushing bore diameters. Determine maximum oil clearance. Replace shaft and/or bushings if not within specification. See INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SPECIFICATIONS table.
- If bushings require replacement, remove intermediate shaft front bushing using Bushing Remover (C-4697-2), and (C-4686-2) for rear bushing.
- Use Bushing Installer (C-4697-1) for front bushing and (C-4686-1) for rear bushing. Install bushings until bushing installer is even with cylinder block.
