Crankshaft & Main Bearings

  1. Prior to installing main bearings, hold a straightedge across threads of main bearing cap bolts. Ensure threads contact straightedge in all areas. If threads fail to contact straightedge, bolts are stretched and must be replaced.
  2. Lightly coat connecting rod threads with engine oil prior to tightening nut to specification. Install main bearing caps with No. 1 cap at timing belt end and No. 5 at flywheel end.
