A Body
- Remove the instrument cluster. Check for battery voltage at cavity "A" of Black 11-pin connector for instrument cluster. See Fig 1 . With ignition on, check for batter voltage at cavity "C" of instrument cluster connector. See Fig 1 .
- Check cavity "H" of instrument cluster connector for continuity to ground. See Fig 1 . Check for tachometer signal by connecting an AC digital voltmeter to cavity "B" of instrument cluster connector and ground. See Fig 1 .
- Voltage reading should be at least one volt with engine running. If voltage is correct, proceed to step 5). If voltage is less than one volt, check for continuity between cavity "B" of instrument cluster connector and pin No. 43 of engine controller connector. See Fig 1

. Ensure engine controller and connector do not have damaged pins or poor connection.NOTE: Engine controller is located in engine compartment near the battery and contains a 60-pin connector.
- If voltage was less than one volt at cavity "B" of instrument cluster connector and continuity exists between cavity "B" and pin No. 43 of engine controller, replace engine controller.
- If all tests were okay, replace tachometer drive module attached to printed circuit board on rear of instrument cluster. If tachometer remains inoperable, replace tachometer assembly.
