G & J Bodies

  1. Distance sensor should be checked for distance sensor fault code and proper speed indication. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  2. Remove instrument cluster, but leave electrical connector installed on instrument cluster. With ignition on, check for battery voltage across ignition (center pin) and ground (bottom pin) of speedometer connector. See Fig 1 .
  3. Check for continuity between distance sensor signal (top pin) and connector of distance sensor (mounted in transaxle). If voltage existed and wiring was good, replace speedometer.
