Rocker Arm & Valve Lash Adjuster: Installation

1. Lubricate camshaft lobes and camshaft bearing journals and install camshaft into cylinder head.
2. Install lash adjuster in rocker arm (if removed) and install lash adjuster retainer. Ensure rocker arm components are installed in original location and wave washers are properly positioned. See Fig 2.
3. Install No. 1 bearing cap on rocker arm shafts so cut areas face away from camshaft area. See Fig 3. Ensure front mark on each bearing cap faces timing belt. Ensure bearing caps are in correct numerical order. Tighten camshaft bearing cap bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
4. Coat lip of camshaft oil seal with oil. Using Seal Installer (MD998364), install seal into cylinder head. Remove lash adjuster retainers. Apply sealant to inside of semi-circular packing and cylinder head before installing. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure.
