Crankshaft & Main Bearings

  1. Check diameter of crankshaft main bearing journals and connecting rod bearing journals. Check journals for taper and out-of-round. Check crankshaft end play. See CRANKSHAFT MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS SPECIFICATIONS  table at the end of this article.
  2. Tighten main bearing caps (in 2 steps) to specification, starting at the center and working outward.
