Inspection (Colt Wagon 1.8L)

  1. Inspect components for damage. Install oil pump rotor assembly in front cover. Using feeler gauge, measure clearance between tip of inner rotor tooth and groove of outer rotor.
  2. Place straightedge across oil pump cover directly above oil pump inner and outer rotors. Using feeler gauge, check clearance between straightedge and rotor assembly. Check clearance between drive shaft and oil pump cover drive shaft bore.
  3. Check for ridge on oil pump cover in rotor assembly operating area. Ensure relief plunger slides freely in bore. Check free length and spring pressure of relief plunger spring. Replace components if not within specifications. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS (COLT WAGON 1.8L)  table below.
