Removal (Colt Wagon 1.8L)

  1. Remove left undercover and engine mount bracket. Remove spark plug wires and valve cover. Remove all drive belts and drive pulley from water pump. Remove tensioner pulley bracket.
  2. Remove crankshaft pulley assembly. Remove upper timing belt cover and gasket. Remove timing belt lower cover and gasket, noting bolt length and location. Rotate engine clockwise to align timing mark on camshaft sprocket with mark on cylinder head.
  3. If belt is to be reused, mark timing belt position on sprocket and indicate direction of belt rotation. Remove timing belt. Remove timing belt tensioner, spacer and spring.
CAUTION: Engine must be rotated clockwise only. DO NOT  rotate counterclockwise.
