Removal (Colt Wagon 1.8L)

  1. To release fuel pressure, disconnect fuel pump connector located near fuel tank. Start engine and allow to idle until it stops. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery terminal and reconnect fuel pump connector. Drain cooling system.
  2. Remove air intake hoses and air breather hoses. Remove air cleaner assembly (if necessary). Disconnect necessary electrical connections from intake manifold, injectors and throttle body.
  3. Disconnect vacuum hoses from intake manifold. Disconnect coolant hoses from manifold and remove upper radiator hose. Remove fuel pressure and return lines from delivery pipe. Disconnect all control cables and electrical connections at throttle body.
  4. Disconnect distributor electrical connectors and spark plug wires. Remove distributor. Remove delivery pipe bolts and remove delivery pipe with fuel injectors and pressure regulator. Secure fuel injectors to delivery pipe. Remove support brace from below intake manifold.
  5. Remove lower intake manifold-to-cylinder head bolts. Remove lower intake manifold and gasket. Remaining components can be removed from intake manifold if required. See Figure.
