Removal (Colt Vista 2.0L)

  1. Release fuel pressure by disconnecting fuel pump connector located near the fuel tank. Start engine and allow to idle until it stops. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery terminal and reconnect fuel pump connector.
  2. Remove air intake hoses and air breather hoses. Remove air cleaner assembly (if necessary). Drain cooling system. Disconnect coolant hoses from intake manifold and plenum.
  3. Disconnect necessary electrical connections and vacuum hoses from intake manifold, injectors and throttle body. Disconnect throttle cable. On models equipped with cruise control, disconnect speed control cable. On all models, disconnect electrical connectors from fuel injectors, idle speed control servo motor, oxygen sensor and EGR temperature sensor (Calif. only).
  4. Disconnect distributor electrical connectors and spark plug wires. Remove distributor. Remove fuel pressure and return lines from delivery pipe. Disconnect all control cables and electrical connections at throttle body.
  5. Remove delivery pipe bolts and remove delivery pipe with fuel injectors and pressure regulator. Ensure that fuel injectors are secured to delivery pipe during removal. Remove support brace from below intake manifold.
  6. Remove engine lift bracket and power transistor bracket. Remove lower intake manifold-to-cylinder head bolts. Remove lower intake manifold and gasket. See Figure. Remove brace and separate upper and lower intake manifold sections. Remaining components can be removed from intake manifold if required.
