Removal & Installation

  1. Mark bearing cap and connecting rod for location. Remove connecting rod cap and bearing. Install replacement bearing. Ensure reference marks on rod cap and connecting rod are aligned. Check bearing clearance using Plastigage method.
  2. Prelube all components with engine oil before reassembling. Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at the end of this article. Ensure connecting rod moves freely on crankshaft. Check connecting rod side clearance.
