Removal (Colt Wagon)

To release fuel pressure, disconnect fuel pump connector. Fuel pump connector is located near fuel tank.
With fuel pump connector disconnected, start engine and allow to idle until it stops. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery terminal and reconnect fuel pump connector.
Remove hood, air cleaner, battery and battery tray. Drain cooling system, engine and transaxle oil and clutch fluid. On A/T models, disconnect and plug transaxle cooler lines.
CAUTION: Transaxle cooler line location must be marked prior to removal. Lines must be installed in original location.
Remove radiator and heater hoses. Remove radiator. Remove fuel lines, vacuum hoses and electrical connections from engine.
Disconnect electrical connectors and speedometer cable at transaxle. Disconnect accelerator cable. Disconnect clutch tube at slave cylinder and control cables at transaxle (M/T models) or control cable and throttle cable at transaxle (A/T models).
Disconnect A/C compressor and power steering pump from engine (if equipped). Wire units aside.
Raise and support vehicle. From under vehicle, remove undercover. Disconnect and suspend exhaust pipe. Disconnect stabilizer bar from lower arm. Loosen nuts and disconnect ball joint and tie rod ends from steering knuckles.
Install pry bar between transaxle case and drive axle shaft. Pry drive axle shaft from transaxle. Pull drive axle shaft assembly from transaxle and support shaft assembly to the crossmember. Plug shaft openings in transaxle.
Install engine hoist and raise engine slightly. On M/T models, mark lower surface of support rod (roll rod) for reassembly reference and remove rod assembly.
Remove front and rear roll stopper insulator (engine mount) bolts. Remove transaxle mounting bracket bolts. Remove insulator bolt from front engine mount. Remove engine/transaxle assembly from vehicle while pushing transaxle side downward during removal.
